Getting Lost and Being Found
Welcome to the From Here book series blog! We are posting blogs on the website lennyo.org regularly. Blogs both written and audio will appear and speak to content from the first 2 books of the series,”We Can get There From Here…” and “From Here … By Faith written by me, Lenny Ouradnik.
You may remember that I mentioned I grew up in a Christian home. Allow me to continue that story. When I turned 18 years old I left home and joined the military. Though a number of godly men prayed for me and said I would win people to Christ, I almost immediately fell away from the Lord.
I fell away from the Lord when I was young mostly because I only had my parent’s relationship with Christ, not my own. In other words, I lived a Christian life while I was a child in my parent’s home, and when I left I didn’t have my own foundation in Christ to stand on.
What was it like for you when you left home? Was it clear sailing and you went off to win the world for Christ? Or, is your story a little more like mine? After some failed attempts you gave up the fight and fell into temptation?
You’re not alone. Many of us had a bad start to our Christian walk. I think the reason some of us struggled is that we didn’t have our own relationship with Christ. At least that was the case for me. I existed in my walk with Christ because all I knew was their relationship with Christ. All I knew how to do was to behave the way they told me to. And when I had a chance, I decided to behave differently. I decided I couldn’t live for Christ very well. And I left the path, so to speak.
The interesting thing is that I knew I would come back someday. In the midst of all my trials and struggles I knew I was missing something. I just didn’t know how to find it.
Thanks to the Lord! Jesus helped me find my way back. That’s when I found out how little I knew about being a believer.
Maybe this sounds familiar, sort of like your own story. Maybe you know someone who is going through these kind of struggles. It is my prayer, hope and belief that you will find some answers here.
Stay with me. We’re finding the path!
Thank you. God bless you - on your journey today!
