Active or Passive?
“Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God.” Rev 1:2
Being passive in our walks with Christ might be the biggest problem we face as men and women in the body of Christ. So many of us tend to remain inactive or passive when we don’t know what to do. Something significant comes when you looking at look at these passages** from this perspective: You and I have received an invitation into a deeper, more meaningful relationship with Jesus.
One of the indications of that deeper relationship is that you have been and will be given works to do. Those works will include all kinds of items. Your list might be to give money to His work; it might be to witness, or to pray for someone who needs healing. Whatever ends up on your list, you will discover the list through growth in your relationship with Christ.
Upon examining these verses, one thing is clear.
You can no longer be passive in your walk with Him. You can no longer, having heard this word, say to yourself, “I don’t know what to do!” and then continue to do nothing. You may not know much about what He has for you to do, but you have this invitation in front of you. The first thing for you to do is to accept the invitation into a deeper relationship with Him. The rest will come through your growing, active, living relationship with Jesus Christ.
We have works to do and we’re going to need faith to do them!
