Fire! Ready? Aim!

In our most recent blog, we said, we ‘believe we have received an invitation into a deeper, more meaningful relationship with Jesus.’ What happens if you accept this invitation into a deeper relationship with Him? What do you do?

I have worked in some variation of corporate America for most of my working life. Something I learned from experience and from various conferences I have attended is that I have a tendency to work on a project with a “Fire! Ready! Aim!” approach. Most of the time, this means I miss the target I was hoping to hit. And this is how many of you approach your walk with God. You and I tend to think, as soon as we know we’re supposed to do something, that we actually know how to do it. And then we march out as if on orders into the unknown with no idea of Whom we have been invited to know or of what He actually wants us to do.

When we do this, its like trying to put together a piece of Ikea furniture without reading the instructions. Or, starting a project at home that should only take about a half hour, only to end up spending all day on it because you missed one little thing? Maybe I’m the only one who has had this experience! This is exactly what I mean by the “Fire! Ready! Aim!” approach.

You won’t know the works He has prepared for you to do until you know Him. You won’t know how to do the works He has prepared for you until you know Him and ask Him questions. And you won’t have the faith it takes to do the works until you know Him. Don’t be offended by these statements. It isn’t that you don’t know Him at all. I’m sure you do know Him. It’s that you and I often act on what we hear rather than on what and Who we know. Jesus Himself said He only does what He sees the Father doing.

We have works to do and we’re going to need faith to do them!
