Because You Believe
We’re building a foundation for the statements that remind us of this fundamental understanding of our walk with God:
Because I believe in Him, I have relationship with Him.
As I began to write this section or volume of the book, I expected it to be short and easy to talk about. What I found after adding a few verses about being children of God, being His inheritance, and being adopted by Him, is that within His Word we can see the Father is telling us that we belong. When I started to think about what it means to belong to Him and His Kingdom, how it might change my life and maybe yours, too, I was struck by the depth of meaning the idea of belonging holds.
There’s something about communicating with you the idea of what belonging means that I find very difficult. In a way, many of you know what I mean when I say that you belong. Many of you belong to or with a group of friends, a church, a workplace, or a club. You belong to your family (and they belong to you). At the same time, many of you don’t belong to anything, or at least don’t know what that feeling of belonging means at the — for lack of a better way of stating it — emotional level. You know the intellectual meaning, maybe the legal meaning of “belong.” But you’re missing something. We have works to do and we’re going to need faith to do them
