Chosen To Do …Work
Last week our blog noted what Jesus said too the church of Sardis ion Revelation 3:1-6:
“ …Jesus’ message to the church in Sardis is a bit harsh. Jesus is saying to Sardis, “You know what you’re supposed to do and you’re not doing it!” You are not the church in Sardis. You’re a child of God on a journey of discovery. Jesus isn’t casting shame and guilt on you for not doing the work He assigned to you. He is letting you know that you will get those assignments, and when you get them, He will want you to do them. And you’ll do them because of a relationship born in love, not a relationship born in fear.”
We look at this passage because it is the end of a process. The process we all go through begins with a discovery that we have, by relationship, been chosen to do things that are for the Kingdom of God. It continues, in case we aren’t sure, with an affirmation or confirmation that we have, indeed, been chosen. As we process all this, we are reminded of the need to grow in and apply faith to do these works. At the end of this process, we can see that in relationship, Jesus has strong feelings about whether we do the works He’s given us.
We have works to do and we’re going to need faith to do them! We have works to do and we’re going to need faith to do them!
