Christ Came to Spring the Trap
In an earlier blog I mentioned that many Christians are aware that Satan exists and that he has influence on people.
Most are not aware of his primary tactics, neither are they aware of the great numbers of people impacted by his activity. It is scary, in a kind of horror movie way, to think about demon possession, which is what we often consider to be the prime activity of the enemy. Yet, the activity of the enemy that has the most impact is to set a trap for you, catch you in it and ensnare you in a cycle of pain and despair. These cycles, or traps, keep you from knowing the love, peace and joy of the Lord on a consistent basis. They could include worry, frustration, insecurity and selfishness. Whatever the cycles are, being trapped in them feels very real.
Have you ever felt like you were caught in a trap? Have you ever felt like you couldn’t escape the pain you were feeling?
Isaiah said of Christ that He came to set the captives free and release prisoners from darkness:
Isaiah 61:1
'The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to …proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. https://www.bible.com/bible/116/ISA.61.1
