Tell Him Everything

Have you ever tried to connect with a friend to “talk” about work, life, marriage?  Only to find out that your friends are going though their own ups and downs in life and they don’t have time for you right now?

This has happened to me…on several occasions!

One day I called a friend to see if we could grab a cup of coffee and talk about my life.  I was pretty disappointed when he said he couldn’t make it.

No big deal, right?  Of course it wasn’t.  Later that night, I went to bed and I was thinking about my friend’s lack of interest and time for me.  I said to the Lord, “Why can’t I just find someone to gripe and complain with once in awhile?” I heard Him say back to me, “Why can’t you gripe and complain with me?”

This is so memorable for me because I felt the Lord saying He cares enough to listen to me talk about my troubles.  True, it is clear in His Word that He doesn’t want me to complain bitterly and wallow in unhappiness.  But that night it became clear that He was interested in the kind of intimacy that I was looking for.  He wanted to be my friend.  He wanted me to talk to Him about the same things I had planned on talking to someone else about.  He wanted to help me sort out legitimate complaints from whining.  He wanted me then, and He wants me now, to come to Him when I am unhappy and let Him know what I am unhappy about.   In other words, He wants me to talk to Him about my life.  He is interested in me and everything that is in my heart.  This is true for you as well.  He is interested in you and everything that is in your heart.

So, what are you saying in your heart about your life?  About your job?  About your marriage?  About your children, your friends?  About your pastor?

Start talking directly to the Lord about these things.  And then listen to Him as He instructs you.

Thank you.  God bless you - on your journey today!
