Faith and Works

In an earlier blog we introduced James’ exhortation the faith without works is stupid (dead).  One of the questions we posed this: What are works? And, what are ‘greater works’?

Rather than reading these blogs as some kind of exercise that is might be a bit interesting, what might happen if you challenge yourself to think through your answers to these questions

What kinds of works do you think might be called ‘greater works’?

How would you start to do ‘greater works’?

Here’s one way you could approach your answers:

What if, hearing Him in relationship, you said something when you didn’t know what to say, prayed in a different way from the way you’ve prayed before, did what He asked you to do in the moment and it turned out to be amazing?”

It’s my belief that the key to answering the questions of faith and works is relationship with God. In short, imagine what you would do if you heard Him tell you to do something outside of your comfort zone. The challenge for you and me is to persist in relationship with Him, rather than striving to do things He hasn’t asked you to do.

We have works to do and we’re going to need faith to do them!
