Greater Works Part 2

'Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. '

Who are “they”? Who is Christ saying this to? He is speaking first to Thomas and Philip. Is He talking to anyone else? I believe so.  Look at His phrasing as He moves from a direct response to those two disciples. In verse 10 you can see He is talking directly to Thomas and Philip. By verse 12, He changes who He is speaking to when He says, “whoever believes in me …”

If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, He is saying this to you. You are one of the “whoevers” He is speaking to. He is saying that future believers will do these greater works. This is His prophecy about you. Jesus is speaking to those who “belong” to Him, You belong to Him if you believe in Him. And He is saying this about you and your fellow believers when He says, “they will do even greater works.”   

What do you think He mean by greater works?   

We have works to do and we’re going to need faith to do them!
