If You Want to Know God …
“You are my God, and I make a covenant with you that you are my God and I will worship you.”
-Dr. Norvel Hayes
As I began to observe people who had a deep relationship with God, I began to desire a walk with God like their’s. I continued to observe these men and women to see if I could find out what was different about them. The common experience they all seem to have in their walk is that they know God. I began to want to know God. For a long time as I worked to get to know God better, I felt as though I was making little progress. I tried to behave better. I tried to serve more. I read a lot of books. I prayed. I fasted. After all my work I found I didn’t know God any better than I did when I started. I knew God was there, but I couldn’t feel Him. I couldn’t sense Him.
Long story short, one of my friends decided that I should listen to a cassette tape series about healing by a man named Dr. Norvel Hayes.
It turns out that Dr. Hayes is a man with a good Southern drawl who tells good stories. I found myself looking forward to listening to the tapes. Dr. Hayes said a lot of good things about faith and healing and God. And then he said something that changed my life. He was telling a story about his own life and how worship is so important. He became quite expressive as he said, “If you want to know God, worship God!” He said it three times.
I don’t remember anything else about those tapes, but I remember those words. When I heard them, it was like a little bell went off in my head. I said, “I can do that!”
Do you want to know God? Have you done everything you knowhow to do and you still feel like God is distant?
Let me encourage you to start worshipping God today!
Thank you. God bless you - on your journey today!
