Because You Believe You Belong
In our most recent blog we began working to communicate with you this idea that you belong in and to the Lord and in and to His Kingdom. For some, this is an easy thing to understand, while for others, including me sometimes, it is nearly incomprehensible. But, it doesn't take long to see it when you start looking.
John begins to communicate this idea of belonging within the first few verses of his Gospel.
In verse 12, he says this:
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name. John 1:12
Paul continues this theme in his letter to the Romans:
For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. Romans 8:14-17
It isn’t enough, according to Paul, that we are able to cry, “Abba! Father!” It is the Spirit Himself that testifies with our spirit that we are children of God!
If you can begin to believe that you belong to Him and to His kingdom, it changes everything in your relationship with Him. When you pray, having this sense of belonging, you pray with questions and search for answers able to believe that Jesus is with you in the moment you perceive a need and ask Him what He wants you to do.
We have works to do and we’re going to need faith to do them
